Visitor and Information Center Entrance

The Visitor & Information Center welcomes visitors to the area and showcases local history. With extensive displays of historic artifacts and a short movie about the area and our Civil War heritage, the Visitor & Information Center should be the first stop for anyone visiting the area. It also offers much for those who have lived in Kinston and Lenoir County for years.

Open Monday - Friday 9-5, Saturday 10-5, Sunday 1-5.

In Lenoir County you will find year-round golfing, boating, hiking, gardening and fishing.

Kinston-Lenoir County Neuse River Fall Float annual event is a

four-hour, 11 mile canoe and kayak trip showcasing the beauty of the Neuse River in Lenoir County.

Kinston/Lenoir Parks and Recreation operates 11 parks providing organized programs for children, such as: arts and crafts, drama, golf and tennis classes, summer day camp programs, baseball, basketball, football soccer, swimming.

Adult activities are scheduled though out the year including golf, tennis, basketball, softball, bridge, aerobics, line dancing and crafts. An active Senior Olympics program is also available.

The North Carolina Symphony is a yearly favorite and the monthly Eastern North Carolina Bluegrass Association show offers the best bluegrass bands around.

Lenoir County has two private, one public, and one disc golf courses for the golf enthusiasts:
• Kinston Country Club, 1501 Country Club, Kinston, NC 28501
• Falling Creek Golf Course, 2359 Falling Creek Road, Kinston, NC 28504
• Bill Fay Park Par 3 Golf Course, Phillips Road, Kinston, NC 28501 opened 7 days a week.
• Barnet Park Disc Golf Course, Sand Clay Rd., Kinston, NC 28504 is open during daylight hours. Has 18 holes and is free to the public.  Kinston Disc Golf Club

Planetarium

Located on 55 acres along the Neuse River, this beautiful nature based park is brimming with fun things to do. Self-guided nature center with over 40 different types of native and exotic animals, three 550-gallon aquariums, two-developed fishponds stocked with catfish every year and saltwater touch tank. Enjoy the 18-foot climbing rock, nature trails, primitive camping, fishing, picnicking, canoeing, and much more.

The Kinston Indians
